Hi everyone!
I finally made it back to France, a few weeks later than expected. With the Ghia team asleep until ~ 2pm my time, I have a very welcome chunk of thinking time in the morning, so I may drop by your inboxes more regularly (or pick up a new hobby, truly who knows). Our new Ghia product is officially launching on September 4th (early access signup here!) - it has been our most difficult one yet, and I’m so so so excited.
My outfits lately have consisted of “whatever brands send me,” which is a very privileged thing to write, but still, I’m usually a lot more intentional. I’m still recovering from the financial shock of renovating my apartment, and have been working double hours at the office, with little time to think about what to wear or any place to dress up for.
But Sunday is September (!!) and I’m craving some newness: chic everyday boots, sheer but not quite as sheer as last season sheer, slacks as everyday pants, cold browns, silver jewelry, midi lengths, turquoise and lilac as accent colors. I can really get down with this version of the 90s.
As always with these sales, my rules hold: 3 things out, one thing in (Substack chats make it particularly easy to find a new home for unwanted items) and please don’t make me responsible for owning shoes that aren’t your right size.
Here’s what I shopped for or am about to shop for: many Taschen books for the office, these $88 Alex Mill pants and $120 Polo flare cords. Amazon Jelly dupes (they’re so good I may need another color). Mango dress as a fun transitional piece. Toteme Sweater, a practical choice. And there’s *a lot* of Tory Burch in my cart right now.
On my current wishlist:
#1 This Chloe bag, I just can’t stop thinking about it. Would freak it with a bag strap and Eliou’s Melanie Bag Charm which the Eliou girls made for me <3
#2 I was hoping for a Dorsey sale that never came because this turquoise necklace has a choke on me (pun absolutely intended). I also love their Gwen earrings. The founder
is a great read!#3 ssense has a last 39 of the Row Sock shoes in the rare Butter Yellow but I cannot own a 3rd pair of glorified diving shoes. Amazon does not have the butter yellow (yet)!
#4 The pistachio version of this pink Comme Si shirt Jenni gifted me and I adore <3
My dreams shall remain dreams.
So without further ado, since I’m indulging in some scrolling on this sunny Sunday, here’s a non-exhaustive sale roundup for my favorite peeps. If I missed anything major, please pop it in the comments for this group!
See you soon!
Melanie
1. Tory Burch
It’s no secret Tory Burch is back with a vengeance, and while I’m eagerly expecting the Fall pieces to land on their site, I think SS24 might have been my favorite collection ever. Everything I love from this past season - from THE silk jersey dress to the black tunic I haven’t stopped wearing, is on sale - the blazer is in my cart and I will probably pull the trigger before the weekend is over.
2. Net-A-Porter
This year’s net sale is a trove for pants and basics - tons of Toteme, Proenza, luxurious textures and will-last-a-long-time basics, I bought and haven’t taken off these pants but really am thinking about this dress...
3. Leset
By the time you get this email, the selection might be slim pickings, but LeSet is having a 60% off. Sure the silk is nice but I can’t recommend a butter yellow sweater as a neutral enough. Like real butter, it goes with and makes everything better.
4. Taschen
Design books are my favorite gifts to receive, so I was so excited to read about this sale in Jess’s very good The Love List. I just bought a bunch of books for the office and my place in Paris, but they’re also very nice to stock up on ahead of the holidays!
5. Roz Hair (+ Crown Affair)
I will tell anyone willing to hear it that switching my whole routine to Roz Hair and Crown Affair allowed me to stop using heat products on my hair - I live for Crown Affair’s clips, scrunchies, hair towel, and shampoo, and Roz’s Santa Lucia oil, and refillable shampoo and conditioner. They just launched a hair mask which I’m excited to try! Buy 3 and get 20% off.
6. J.Crew + Madewell
Always treats us with delicious sales, and this weekend is no exception. Madewell just sent me a box of denim and a suede hobo, and I’m shocked at just how everything fits and looks great. The denim overalls is giving Alexa Chung (who’s excited for that collab) and she’s still my #1 so…
7. Ghia
While I hate to send you to Amazon for Ghia (we make virtually no money there), I really hate to have Ghia be unaffordable to some. We have a number of 15% off deals running through the weekend, and you can also use the code NIGHTSHADE for the whole suite on our site (totem glasses included!!) 🙂
While we’re on the Kitchen topic, Material Kitchen has an extra 10% off Sets - I swear by their knives and mixing bowls.
8. COS
COS is running 15% off 150+, 25% off $250 + this weekend - there is so much good stuff it’s actually overwhelming.
9. Mango
I am both outraged and amazed by Mango - their take on Chloe boehmian, and their perfect Rugby Extra 30% off $220+ this weekend
